Have an Italian inspired summer wedding at our luxury wedding venue

The Setting

Recently renovated for 2020, the Orangery promises to be the hub of any wedding day! This large, light space with views over the rose-decked terrace and vineyards beyond is truly impressive.

Seating 120 guests on round tables or 150 banquet style, this room can cater for wedding parties of any size.
The bi-fold doors open out on to the terrace to create a unique indoor/outdoor feel. There are another set of doors leading to a small balcony area, which is great for a photo opportunity with the pond and vineyards providing an incredible backdrop.

The Orangery houses the impressive bar which has a hint of an art-deco feel to it. The bar is stocked with a large range of drinks and our resident caterers ‘Abigails and Co’ provide an in-depth knowledge of wines and cocktails to complement your dining experience.

The gardens at Baddow Park House have been extensively planned to provide the best outdoor space for your wedding day. A large terrace area made of luxury, natural stones leads off of the Orangery and out to some truly unique features.

An alfresco wedding is often much more versatile than an indoor wedding ceremony. With this in mind, the Pavilion has been expertly crafted with a green oak frame. The hand-cut fish scale reclaimed slate tiles are then topped with a copper weathervane. It’s no wonder more and more couples are opting to say their vows outside.

With the option of personalising the Log Shed Bar to suit your requirements, you could opt for traditional Italian aperitifs to be served such as prosecco or Aperol Spritz. This upgrade easily transforms a standard drinks service into something which people will truly remember and talk about!.

Décor

Atmospheric lanterns, candles and traditional olive leaves intertwined with oranges and lemons create the most romantic and rustic setting. If you are looking for floral décor, flowering verbena hanging from the roof of the Orangery would transform this space into an Italian style ‘Cloister’. The table names could take inspiration from Italian wines, placemarks or towns.

Food and Drink

Italy is famed for having the finest wines and cuisine, it’s no wonder couples choose it for their destination wedding. Our resident caterers Abigails & Co offer fully flexible menu options to provide our couples with a truly unique service. We believe your wedding day is a day to remember and should be delivered how you have always dreamt of it. Abigails and Co offer a professional and complete catering service, bringing you fresh, seasonal produce with an in-depth knowledge of wine.
Here are few mouth-watering options…

Welcome drinks – why not serve your guests the classic Aperitif Prosecco. Served in gorgeous saucer glasses on the terrace

For your wedding breakfast, Abigails and Co could serve the following sumptuous offerings.

Starters
Carpaccio of British Bresaola with feta cheese, ruby chard and honey roasted figs.
Wild mushroom tortellini, sautéed wild mushrooms with Tarragona and black truffle cream.

Mains
Homemade potato gnocchi, served in a pesto and mascarpone sauce with pan fried king oyster mushrooms, spinach and pine-nuts.
Seared Essex lamb loin served with risotto Bianco, confit tomato and asparagus.

Desserts
Vanilla panna cotta with strawberry compote, strawberry gel and freeze-dried strawberries.
Traditional Venetian Zabaglione, amaretti style tuille and a shot of iced Limoncello.

Bomboniere

Bomboniere are the Italian equivalent of favours and are typically boxed sugared almonds. There are many suppliers that can custom-make unique and bespoke boxes for these traditional favours. It is customary to give your guests 5 sugared almonds each to represent: health, wealth, fertility, happiness and a long life.
Alternatives to these favours could be miniature bottles of Italian liqueurs such as Limoncello or Disaronno.

Traditions

Italian weddings have lots of fun traditions that you could incorporate into your day from the guests wearing green to bring the couple good luck, or even the tradition of tie-cutting! During the evening reception, the Groom would cut up his tie and ‘sell’ pieces to the wedding party with the proceeds going to the honeymoon fund!

The evening

A discrete clear down of table and chairs, transforms the Orangery for the evening’s celebrations with room for a DJ, Band and dancefloor meaning a large space for you and your guests to party together!

For the evening buffet, why not serve your guests traditional stone-baked pizzas, fresh from our log shed bar set within the gardens.

Continuing with the romantic, alfresco theme, gather your guests around our fire-pit. Set within whimsical woodland, this is a fantastic location when the sun has set. With marshmallows, the finest hot chocolate and Italian liqueurs, entertain your guests under a canopy of stars.
