Tips for your winter wedding ideas
Winter is such a magical season to get married. From rich colour themes, to log fires, there are so many aspects to consider when planning a winter wedding. Read our 5 top tips for winter wedding ideas to help you choose your luxury winter wedding venue and create the perfect seasonal ceremony.
1. Visit the venue at night.
Arrange to see your wedding venue in the dark so you can get a feel for the lighting and atmosphere. Plan where to put candles around the venue and request for fireplaces to be lit accordingly. You may even wish to invite your photographer along to the viewing, so they know what lighting they are working with in advance.
2. Check what decorations the venue will provide.
Most wedding venues will be dressed for the Christmas period. Check when the decorations go up, what colour they are and what they include. A beautifully decorated tree and lots of twinkly lights might mean there is very little you need to add for it to look perfect for a festive themed day!
3. Layer up.
The colder weather is the perfect opportunity to add extra details to your outfits. Brides can add faux-fur wraps, pashminas or detailed bolero jackets. Grooms can opt for gorgeous velvet or heavy tweed suits with statement waistcoats for added style as well as warmth.
4. Plan flowers to suit.
Fewer flowers may be in bloom during the winter months but there are still some very pretty varieties available. According to Teleflora, the flowers in season for winter weddings are: Amaryllis, Anemone, Camellias, Casablanca Lilies, Forget-me-nots, French Tulips, Gardenias, Holly, Jasmine, Orchids, Mini Gerberas, Paperwhites (Narcissus), Poinsettias, and Roses. There are so many pretty options available and the addition of holly, berries and poinsettias can all look amazing for a Christmas-themed wedding.
5. Menu selections.
Greet your guests with a warming welcome drink of mulled wine. These can be beautifully presented with orange, cloves and cinnamon sticks and the delightful smell will add to the overall atmosphere, a perfect winter wedding idea. Food options can also include sumptuous soups and grand roast dinners to be enjoyed by candle light.
